Robert "Bob" Rhodes

Robert "Bob" Joseph Rhodes, Sr., of Elk Grove Village, passed away at his home on June 7, 2022. Bob was born in Forest City, North Carolina on December 9, 1929. He is the son of the late John and Carrie (Chapman) Rhodes. 

Bob grew up in Forest City, NC and came to Chicago in his early twenties. He was a sheet metal worker for 36 and member of the sheet metal union for 60 years. He made many friends in that field. 

His wife, Maria and Bob loved to travel. They went on cruises to Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean. They also traveled to Austria, Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia and many other countries. In the spring through fall months, they looked forward to spending long weekends at Woodhaven Lakes with family and friends. 

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Maria; his children, Robin(Larry) Latas, Lori(Joe) Alvinito, Ron(Penny) Rhodes and Robert Rhodes, Jr.; his grandchildren, Jenny(Derek) Smith, Tim(Nicole) Latas, Alyssa, Alex, Emily, Zac, Hilary, Ariel(Frankie) Mowry and Paris; his great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Isla, Brody and Leo; Step-dad of Lucy(John) Zielinski, Derek(Agnes) Pach; Step-grandpa of Julia, Natalie, Adam, Emily, Caroline, Adela and Thomas. He will be remembered fondly for all the joy and laughter he brought to his family and friends and also for being extremely stubborn!

Visitation Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ahlgrim and Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg, IL 60195. Family and friends will meet Friday morning at Queen of the Rosary Church, 750 W. Elk Blvd, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007 for Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Committal Service with Burial to follow at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
