I worked for Lou for 3 years (1986-1988) just after college as a PLATO computer programmer while he was the Director of PASR, an adjunct organization to the Computer-Based Education Research Laboratory in Urbana, IL. I also ran into him intermittently until I moved away in 2004. Anyone who knew Lou knows everyone who knew him will be sorrowful at the news of his passing. He was a remarkable and remarkably nice and generous person—all with a sense of humor. I miss him already. He seemed to take an interest in everything he ran across. I thought of him as a sort of jack-of-all-trades. He did an even wider variety of things than I knew about. (Thank you for the detail in his obituary.) May the Lord bless all his loved ones left behind. He had a life worth remembering and celebrating.

Marie, It is with great sorrow I leave this message.  May your memories bring you peace, your love for Lou be forever in that special part of your heart he has always been from the very first day.

I wish I could be there with you but I truly am in spirit.
